I’ve known the Beatles for almost 8 years now, well almost a decade already to make it long
. I first heard their names when watching one of the special episodeds of the late Ernie Baron’s Knowledge Power. At first, I didn’t gave my attention watching the show because I’m not interested in the topic at all, not just like some of the episodes discussing some discoveries and mysteries. But when I heard something like “why the beatles succeeded and became famous all over the world?”, I said “WOW!”, and I left what I’m doing and concentrated on the TV instead. I can’t believe they achieved that success in their career (as singer & composer, as a band) after learning all those from the show. This is the first time I saw and heard the name John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harisson and Ringo Starr. No, actually, I first saw the Lennon/McCartney partner/composers in my songbooks cause I’m trying-hard to study playing guitar by that time. I asked my father if he knew these guys. And he replied absoulutely “of course, yes!” and he mentioned some of the great songs that top the charts and still remembered this time (after 4 decades!, 40 years past!). I’m amazed and gave a chance to hear for their music by listnening every Sunday at the radio (I don’t have any tapes of them that time) cause this is only the time they play oldies but goodies songs (as they say). Well, as like what they judged, I began to like the taste of their music, though it’s more on rock n’ roll (I don’t want to hear rock n’ roll before until I appreciated it later when I heard The Beatles playing it in their own style). More songs I heard from them. The only way I will learn a new song from them is when I hear the DJ saying “that song was from Lennon/McCartney, and The Beatles” after the song finished playing. Radio is not enough for me to know all their songs (I’m still curious why they hit the world through their music) so I consulted the online resource. And yes, I found out everything about them. Their biggest hit includes: the all time fav Yesterday, Let It Be, I Wanna Hold Your Hand, The Long And Winding Road and their etched song version of “Twist And Shout,” just to name a few.
I am convinced and began to idolize them and I bought my very first record of them entitled “The Beatles Love Songs”. I played it all the time after school and before going to sleep at night, and really loved their recordings. More and more casette tapes I bought and collected then, thanks to may hard-earned pocket money
. I also began collecting songbook of their songs, downloading group and solo pics of them. Until now, I almost have collected their songs in every album, even the unreleased ones. Watched popular videos and footage, interviews. And before I forgot, my gf really lovs me
, she even gave me a gift, a T-Shirt with a picture of The Beatles in it!
That’s how I mean the band. How I introduced them to myself. How I appreciate their creativity and their great works and achievements. I maybe the number one fans of The Beatles
Almost every fan actually will say it.
The Beatles are gone now but their music will live forever, and still, they are The Greatest Band Ever!!!
