ERASERHEADS REUNION CONCERT (ONE NIGHT ONLY)

“Minsan sa may kalayaan tayo’y nagkatagpuan
May mga sariling hilig
At kanya-kanyang hangad sa buhay…

Ngunit kung sakaling mapadaan
Baka ikaw ay aking tawagan
Dahil minsan tayo ay naging tunay na magkaibigan….”

Heard the news lately about Eraserheads’ reunion concert? Before it was only a rumor, but I believe this  has been confirmed already, even the group itself testified it.  The Eraserheads or simply known as E-heads acclaimed one of the greatest (if not the greatest of all bands) in the Philippines who made us remember the song Toyang, Pare Ko, Ang Huling El Bimbo and many other OPM songs that really hit the Philippine music chart.
After the band’s break up, they continue their career in music whether as a solo artist and/or as a member of another band while their fans (including me) longing to see their icons together playing and wearing their name E-heads. And yes, it’s too good to be true, that for just a night, they’ll be reunited infront of 3x,000 crowds!!! Below were the informed details regarding the said event.

WHAT: Eraserheads Reunion concert – I wish the Beatleds made it too!
WHEN: August 30, 2008 – Also a very special day. How? Ask the registrar :)
WHERE: Open field of CCP, Pasay City – Expect a heavy traffic, so bring your own chopper
Expected No. of Audience: 3X,000 (including me and babhy)

Tax Man

1,2,3,4,1,2

Let me tell you how it will be,
There’s one for you, nineteen for me,
‘Cos I’m the Taxman,
Yeah, I’m the Taxman.
Should five per cent appear too small,
Be thankful I don’t take it all.
‘Cos I’m the Taxman,
Yeah yeah, I’m the Taxman.(If you drive a car car), I’ll tax the street,
(If you try to sit sit), I’ll tax your seat,
(If you get too cold cold), I’ll tax the heat,
(If you take a walk walk), I’ll tax your feet.
Taxman.

‘Cos I’m the Taxman,
Yeah, I’m the Taxman.
Don’t ask me what I want it for
(Ah Ah! Mister Wilson!)
If you don’t want to pay some more
(Ah Ah! Mister Heath!),
‘Cos I’m the Taxman,
Yeeeah, I’m the Taxman. Now my advice for those who die, (Taxman!)
Declare the pennies on your eyes, (Taxman!)
‘Cos I’m the Taxman,
Yeah, I’m the Taxman.
And you’re working for no-one but me,
(Taxman).

This is a Beatles song appeared in their Revolver album composed and sung by George Harisson. A bitter song that depicts on how you almost lost your hard-earned pay because of TAX. The Beatles composed this to contempt (the country they go and leaders who contribute in the law of tax) for that so much tax they pay.

And I was awaken for the fact that the Philippines is not an exemption. Believe me how much they broke your wallet because of tax. Let’s count. When you receive your salary and see your payslip, notice that it’s already been deducted for how many percent of tax. So, you will only be receiving a pie with a slice of what you earned. Right? Okay, the second one. The mere the fact that your salary is already taxable, when you buy some food, clothes, appliances, see a movie, etc., everything, whenever money talks and is involve, don’t you see that ALL CAPS printed word VAT in your receipt? What is this for? And again, few years ago, a new law was granted and they called it the E-VAT. The E means EXTENDED!
How rich our country with this kind of pakulo. Can you feel any advancement and development where our tax should be? I feel guilt if you say YES. And please don’t be fooled when you see the sign along the EDSA saying “Ramdam ang Kaunlaran.” They should say “Ramdam and Kaunlaran… Namin” rather. We should stop now for a while and think who were in our government (who really they are), what do we have now in our government. We all want to change the country, even the whole world!

I can still remember the time when I first took a ride to a jeepney where my fare is only 50 cents and my baon to school is only 2 pesos (I’m not that old yet though :) ). How I wish we can still have this experience today.

A New Toy: Nikon D40

Recently, I bought a Christmas gift (malayo pa lang ang Pasko noon iniisip ko na ito, :) ) to myself in which something new to my interests, (maybe inclined because I loved drawing when I was still 3 feet tall, and always a nature lover, fond of art, etc.). It was December last year when I got my very first DSLR. I chose the Nikon D40 model over the other entry-level DSLR’s because it has acclaimed a good reviews from hobbyists to professional photographers all around the world. So I was badly influenced :) to get the Dark Side brand.

At first, I’m afraid to hold this bulky (compared to slim P&S digital cameras) thing and operate it’s controls feared that I might cause it to malfunction (ganito nga naman talaga pakiramdam ng mga first timers). Reading the manual is really the first thing to do when you have a new toy to learn to. Then I tried taking some shots using the Auto settings. Amazing output there and you can’t really compare it to a P&S cameras (IMHO). But I learned the rule of the thumb which they say “stay away from the green zone” (referring to auto mode) and begin learning to use the P (Programmed Mode), A (Aperture Priority), S (Shutter Priority) and most of all the M (Manual Mode). It really took me alot of time to read and experiment when I dialled into one of this modes especially the Manual Setting. The funny thing then was my pictures where incomparable to others :) , sometimes pure black, and at all times washed out or purely white. :) . Well, the reason? it is where the term exposure comes into the picture. Exposure, exposure, exposure. Yes, that’s the main thing that all photographers should be dealing of. There are three (please correct me if i’m mistaken) major factors to be considered to get the proper exposure of your subject, these are the Aperture, which is the size of the opening of the lens, Shutter, which is the time (measured in seconds) on how long the shutter stays open and ISO which before, during the Film age, described as the sensitivity of the film to the light, but today’s digital age, it’s the sensitivity of the camera’s sensor (CMOS or CCD) to the light. There are other factors also to be considered to achieve a great image like white balance, metering, exposure compensation, etc. but those three where our key players in our goal. I patiently researched and read articles on all of these and of course, tried to apply it. Shoot, shoot, shoot until I can almost say, I can nearly compare it against the one from masters of photography. At least I improved. :-)

Care to see my sample shots? hehe. Just post your comments and suggestion. Thanks for viewing.

I’m Back

Wow, it’s already June and I didn’t have any post in the month of May. I feel I was just too busy and have no time to log here and make some interesting and sometimes boring stories of my life. :)

Well, a lot of happy (some were dull) moments happened in my month of May.  One unforgetable experience is that we (me and bhy) joined their company outing at Enchanted Kingdom. It’s a great time bonding again with her, though she cheated at me once :( . She make us swapped seats when we rode at Rio Grande, then you know what happened next…

May is also a month of Fiesta’s. I was with her and we watched what we always watch during this event, the Parada ng mga Banda. You’ll be surprised with the superb performance of the bands that came from different municipalities when you watch this.  Well a very long story to tell but I was just satiated that day. :)

I know there are alot still but those were the grand events that I had….

Summer Is Here

It’s exactly a month now when we hopped again into our hometown and spent our summer vacation there while forgetting all the pressures and stress in our work. It’s time to relax!

Almost a week of stay, a very short? time but a lot of things happened and a lot of things didn’t happened too. Proof? We always planned to join the sun to set in our backyard and take some photos of it, and honestly, we did it, but just in our dreams after surprising ourselves we were deep asleep until 6pm. hehe.

It’s summer, and we really wanted to go to the beach and drown ourselves for 20 seconds and back to the earth, and swim… swim, but we ended in a pool. Not too bad, there’s still a lot of water in it. Together with our cousin, my brother and sister, and with my brother’s friend? (still undiscovered) and my sister’s another friend (a girl!), and of course my babhy, did helped a lot in plowing the pool (no plants, just water).

The day after next, we revisited Baluarte – the Ilocos zoo owned by Chavit Singson. We played and talked to some animals and make friends with them. A year or two since we had a visit there, we saw our little friends (sheep, ostrich, birds, etc.) had grown now. And some faces are new to us and maybe we’re new to them too.

————————————————————————————-

It’s really a great time doing such activities with your lov ones. I really enjoyed every moment with my family and the quality time for my babhy.

Mission Accomplished!

Last night I just finished the challenging first-person shooting game Call Of Duty 4 Modern Warfare or COD 4. This game was great and you can feel the tense while playing. It feels like your in the scene holding your riffle and struggling for your survival. A very realistic one. Here are some of the screenshots of the game.

How Did You Know

I remember so well
The day that you came into my life
You asked for my name
You had the most beautiful smileMy life started to change
I’d wake up each day feeling alright
With you right by my side
Makes me feel things will work out just fine
How did you know
I needed someone like you in my life
That there was an empty space in my heart
You came at the right time in my life
I’ll never forget
How you brought the sun to shine in my life
And took all the worries and fears that I had
I guess what I’m really trying to say
It’s not everyday that someone like you comes my way
No words can express how much I love you

I onced again heard the song playing on my PSP while making my way back home from work. The lyrics were still the same, nothing has changed and so with the meaning in it as I recall the things that we first had and shared. Sweet and, guess why we like this song? :-)

It’s Getting Better

Nothing great happened in the past few days except that I’m feeling better all the time now! I think the wounds were atleast healed or are healing with the aid of her smiles and caring and loving words. (I should include caring and loving acts.)

Grow Old With Me

by J. Lennon

Grow old along with me
The best is yet to be
When our time has come
We will be as one
God bless our love
God bless our love

Grow old along with me
Two branches of one tree
Face the setting sun
When the day is done
God bless our love
God bless our love

Spending our lives together
Man and wife together
World without end
World without end

Grow old along with me
Whatever fate decrees
We will see it through
For our love is true
God bless our love
God bless our love

I like this song especially the version with an orchestra that was released  in  the Lennon Anthology Album. The song, with it’s relaxing melody and hymn, and the message, it always makes me feel calm and it carries me to a truly  peaceful world everytime I played it.

Actually, I’d like it to be played during our wedding ceremony. In the next two years, I ask. :)

…When our time has come, We will be as one…
